“I plan to spend this money on some much needed work pants and boots for working in the brewery, study materials to start my road to cicerone, books about brewing and tasting beer, and equipment for brewing. I am so grateful for this money to help me get the resources I have been needing but couldn’t afford.”

Erin Victorine
“I grew up in a home brew household. My dad always had something boiling, fermenting or brewing out in the garage. When craft breweries started popping up all over the state I had no idea it would affect me the way that it did. Walking into my first real brewery, I was hit with instant nostalgia. As I breathed in the scents of whatever beer was being brewed I was suddenly 9 years old again watching my dad throw in some hops he had been just dying to try out. The brewery felt familiar, it felt like home, and I’m so excited to continue my craft beer journey and compare beers with my dad.”

Megan Learn
“Hi everyone! My name is Megan Learn, I am a Senior at Appalachian State University majoring in chemistry and minoring in fermentation sciences and biology. I have loved my experience in the fermentation sciences program and have started working in the A.R. Smith Department of Chemistry and Fermentation Sciences Service Lab, and interned at Appalachian Mountain Brewery since taking brewing principles and production. I am also working on an undergraduate research project studying the chemical characteristics of kombucha. After graduation I hope to work as a quality technician in a brewery! I plan to put this scholarship towards professional memberships and certifications. Thank you to Brew Like a Girl for the opportunity this is providing for myself and other women in the industry!”

Sarah Hurwitz
Hello everyone! I’m Sarah, a recent graduate of Wake Tech’s Commercial Craft Brewing Course where I was able to blend my background as an herbalist with a passion for beer and brewing. My goal is to craft unique, herb-infused recipes that promote well-being for the body and planet. As I embark on an internship with Fullsteam in Durham, NC, I’m excited to learn more about working in a brewery that connects people with the land.
I’m eager to use the Brew Like a Girl Scholarship to invest in additional education, brewing equipment, and quality ingredients. This financial support will be instrumental in realizing my dream of establishing a sustainable brewery. Post-graduation, I aim to contribute to the brewing industry’s growth and diversity, bringing my unique perspective to the forefront. Thank you, Brew Like a Girl, for supporting women in brewing and providing a platform for innovation and inclusivity! Cheers to breaking barriers and crafting a meaningful future in the brewing world!
